ETHIOPIA - DELLA GRADE 1

Ethiopia is known as the birth place of the coffee plant, Coffea Arabica. The legend of Kaldi says a goat herder in the ninth century supposedly tracked the energetic behaviour in his animals back to the red coffee cherry they consumed. 

Dela is situated in the Sidamo region, approximately 450km from Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa. Varieties 74158 and 74112, designated by the Jimma Agriculture Center, are well balanced coffees with smooth bodies. This lot comprises beans from various coffee farmers in the region.

The coffee is sun-dried on raised beds, each 1.20cm in heigh, with a plastic net thickness of 3-5cm. This design allows the coffee beans to dry evenly over a period of 10-14 days.
